Things Fall Apart. Pick Up Pieces. Repeat.

Today was suppose to be a productive day. Today WAS a productive day... for the most part!
There is nothing more effective at putting you in a mad/frustrated mood than a cold shower - and I mean practically ice-shards at this point people. It's very easy to find the wrong in everything when you're freezing and in that kind of mood. So I made a list of everything that needed to be fixed and dealt with and planned to get er' all done today. Don't worry, I eventually calmed down, got myself a cup of coffee, chatted with my flatmates for a bit and then a nice long overdue video chat with Dennis. I woke up around 1ish (which is acceptable because I was up till 3am my time - 10pm your time). Anywho, after being lazy - Alex and I ventured to the city centre again to do a bit of shopping and get our phones working.
Bagpiper performing in the Street!
Beginning by scouring the 3-story Forever 21 I found myself in serious trouble and managed to resist the temptation to buy a scarf...or four. Next we went to Virgin Media where I had purchased my SIM card the previous day, long story short after going to see this other phone unlocking guy my phone has not been unlocked by Telus yet so I wasn't too impressed with that and need to try get a hold of them some how to figure that out PRONTO.
Down one of the ways we saw a traditional Scotsman playing the bagpipes, that kind of made my day - being in Scotland and all. There's usually a few performers about the ways. There was a fiddler earlier on but it's hard to compare with bagpipes in Scotland...

I have a panorama option on my tablet so expect a few of these now and then.
This is in one of the more popular areas of the city centre. Up towards the left is the Glasgow Theatre for Performing Arts as well as Buchanan Galleries (the mall).

This is one of the main drags with loads of shops and cafes and just about everything you could possibly need - with St. Enoch mall at the very end just incase you didn't quite get it all. We've been down here every day now - if not twice/day and it's still very exciting. P.s. Pictures never do justice to the actual view.

Okay! Moving on! My Productive Day.
So we got back - I'm still debating how to call Telus without service - perhaps I will Skype them. So I got home and was like 'I need EVERYTHING fixed NOW.' So I put my Starbucks down, grabbed my chewed up/half destroyed ethernet cable and marched it over to security. Nicest old Scottish people I've met yet. They had a brand new cord for me and ask me to not chew on it... lol. So then I told them one of my lights didn't work nor did our hot water. They took down the information about my light - which I am told maintenance should be around in a day or 2 to fix and he showed me how the hot water system works.

Let me take the time to explain this "Ingenious" system to you...

The water heater is set up so when the hot water is used, it fills with cold water. ONLY during the night will it heat up automatically, in time for the morning. The rest of the day it will remain cold, UNLESS you press a button in the kitchen that will heat the water for a maximum of 2 hours before you have to press it again. So essentially we could have hot water 24hrs a day - as long as the button has been pressed and the light on the button box is on. Yes, this is weird and inconvenient. A good way to save energy I will admit (Thanks Jen :P CDM in Scotland...) but still inconvenient. First world problems, I know.

Other than that I think once everything is fixed and settled I will feel a bit better and not feel like I am jumping back and forth between being frustrated and excited all the time.
In the meantime - they don't have Mr. Clean magic erasers here (shocking, I know) so I don't have a good effective way to clean my dirty and scuffed walls. So if anyone would care to send me some and some kraft dinner I would be more than appreciative AND bring you something back at Christmas ;). Otherwise, I'm going to add it to the list for mom to bring me when they come over in 37 days.

I guess I'll go eat something. Oh quick note! So we went to this store yesterday called Argo and you pick what you want from the catalogue, write down the number, pay for it and they get it from a warehouse for you! I was going to get a pink & black duvet cover + pillow case to replace my awful hospital gown one the school gave me, but I found a fuchsia ruffle one for ₤8 instead of ₤12 (see mom, Smart shopping)! And I got a ₤6 flat iron - cuz lets be honest... can't go without one of those for 8 months. Oh and groceries... but I didn't buy anything exciting or new but milk is crazy cheap here so that's nice too.
I'm doing my best to resist shopping, except for essentials. There is talk amongst myself, Alex and Brittany about a trip to Italy or Ireland next weekend... yep, I know. Don't worry, I'll be careful and safe and have fun.

Here's another picture!

What a beauty day in Scotland. This was yesterday, it was like 16 degrees, which the Scots loved - meanwhile I was bundled up in a nice thick sweater and y'all in Canada were enjoying a heat wave. Funny how that works eh?

Cheers! :)
